Chelyabinsk official caught taking bribe for help in placing kiosks

"It was established that from January to March 2022, the suspect received a bribe through an intermediary for committing illegal actions in favor of an entrepreneur," the regional investigative agency said. "They consisted of ensuring the accelerated, unhindered and guaranteed acceptance of documents for the placement of non-ferrous metals in violation of the regulations on the procedure for processing documents and the procedure for organizing and holding an auction."

The crime was discovered by employees of the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Chelyabinsk Region.

Searches have been conducted at the suspect's workplace and home. The question of bringing charges and choosing a preventive measure for her is being decided.

The amount of the bribe is not named, but it is a significant amount, threatening the official with a sentence of up to eight years in prison and the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for another five years.

Work is underway to identify other episodes of her criminal activity.
