"The camera will help combat excessively loud cars and motorcycles," the department's Telegram channel notes. The Traffic Management Center has been testing new cameras for the past four years and conducting research on the permissible noise level from transport. The device will protect the silence on the roads, recording noise in the range from 60 dB (people talking) to 120 dB (a roaring siren). It is not afraid of bad weather: cameras with a noise meter can withstand temperatures from minus 45 degrees to plus 45 degrees.
The Department of Transport plans to approve maximum noise levels, establish liability for exceeding the permissible noise level, and also record changes in legislative acts.
"Until the legislation is amended, we will use the camera for monitoring," said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. "Specialists from the TsODD will continue to test the operation of the complex and select the best locations for its installation, where measuring noise levels is most relevant."
