As the regional government reports , the updating of the Red Book is based primarily on long-term observations of flora and fauna carried out by scientists from Tver State University and the Central Forest State Reserve. The specialists examined more than 50 natural territories of the Upper Volga region.

The work on the publication used data from expeditions of the Papanin Institute of Inland Water Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, observations from the biological stations "Chisty Les", "Moldino" and some schools in the region. Tver amateur naturalists made their contribution to the work on the Red Book.

As a result, the new edition of the Red Book of the Tver Region includes 465 species of flora and fauna. For the first time, the edition is supplemented with a list of animals and plants that are on the verge of being included in the list of protected species. They require constant monitoring.

The printed version of the Red Book of the Tver Region was published in a print run of 1,049 copies. It contains object-by-object essays for all rare species of flora and fauna, illustrated with informative diagrams and the author's photographs.
