According to him, a regular reason for a long warm-up of the power plant is a faulty thermostat. In summer, this malfunction is almost unnoticeable, but in winter it manifests itself quite noticeably. The thermostat valve can jam, due to which the antifreeze will circulate only in a large circle, which leads to a slowdown in warming up the engine, he said.
In addition, clogged radiator cells of the heater, among other things, lead to long heating due to insufficient heat transfer. To create the right microclimate in the car, as well as for the correct operation of the engine, it is important to check and change this part in time, the expert noted.
A disrupted circulation of the cooling system can even lead to increased fuel consumption and long warm-up times. Possible causes of this malfunction may be air locks in the system, a failed engine temperature sensor, a breakdown of the cooling system fan and other reasons, the expert concluded.
