Teacher kills seven-year-old schoolgirl in South Korea

Published: in News by .

The crime occurred on the afternoon of Monday, February 10. The parents of a schoolgirl named Kim Haneul began to sound the alarm when their daughter did not return on time from extra classes at school. A search was soon launched involving the police and school administration. The girl was found unconscious with multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save her – the cause of death was significant blood loss.

A 47-year-old teacher of the same school was detained on the spot, who wounded herself in the neck, but her life is out of danger. The teacher admitted that she committed the crime, luring the girl with the promise of giving her a book for her studies.

The two were strangers, and the child was a random victim. The woman had been suffering from depression for a long time and went on a six-month leave for health reasons in December 2024, but returned to work 20 days later, presenting a medical certificate. On February 5, she began to show aggression towards her colleagues and, in a fit of anger, even smashed the school computer. The woman was temporarily suspended from work, which again irritated her. In the end, she decided to take out her anger on a random victim, deciding that she would attack the child who was the last one left after school. This turned out to be Kim Haneul.

In South Korea, education and all issues related to this area are always treated with increased attention, so this news immediately became one of the main ones. It is no exaggeration to say that the nation is shocked by what happened. The police said that they have launched an investigation and will interrogate the suspect in the near future. It has already been established that the teacher planned the crime: she bought a knife in advance and brought it to school.

The educational institution where the tragedy occurred is currently temporarily closed.
