"Based on the results of the inspection of the territories at 11 sites assigned to municipal teams, new small emissions of fuel oil were discovered ," the report says.
In parallel, the condition of the protective structures was also studied. It is emphasized that they all withstood the blow of the elements (a strong storm has been going on for more than a day).
"Fractions of fuel oil are concentrated in areas between the water's edge and the protective rampart. This is where the main efforts to clean up the shore are concentrated," the Operational Headquarters clarified.
According to Oleg Chelyadinov, deputy head of the Krasnodar regional emergency rescue service "Kuban-SPAS", the protective rampart accomplished its task.
"There are areas where the rampart needs to be restored, and there are also areas where it is necessary to conduct an inspection and prompt replacement of networks, including those contaminated with oil or out of order," he noted. "The most important thing is that during the storm, the fuel oil that was found along the coastline did not get onto the main body of the beach."
As RG has already reported, the number of volunteers will be cut in half – from 600 to 300 people – at the beach cleanup in Anapa from sand from February 17. This is due to the transition to industrial methods of cleaning sand from fuel oil.
