Russia may introduce incentives for rare metal mining projects

He said that 24 chains with production facilities are expected to be created in this direction. They will cover the entire cycle, including raw materials and final products. At the same time, according to the minister, not all projects are economically justified.

"Nevertheless, we are preparing proposals together with our colleagues from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development with possible benefits for such projects," Alikhanov noted.

Over the next six years, the authorities intend to reach the level of extraction of 50 thousand tons of large-tonnage metals, and also reduce the share of imports to 45%. The head of the ministry said that for now it is "quite high", since it is about 75% and more for some items.
