On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, viewers named their favorite films about the Motherland

Published: in News by .

The best film, as expected, was "Officers" by director Vladimir Rogovoy. The action of this film begins during the Civil War, continues during the Great Patriotic War and ends at the end of the last century.

Many remember the song "From the Heroes of Bygone Times", which was first heard in "Officers". And the phrase "There is such a profession – to defend the Motherland!", with which brave and honest men who love their Motherland go into battle. And it is this that embodies for us true service to the Fatherland and one's duty.

In second place with 34 percent of the votes is the film by director and actor Leonid Bykov, "Only Old Men Go to Battle." It is about experienced pilots and about newcomers who have joined the squadron. About the ability to help out friends in battle, and also about music and a little about love.

The prototypes of its main characters were real people. After all, such a squadron, where many pilots and technicians liked to sing during breaks between battles and thus rested, preparing for new combat sorties, really existed during the Great Patriotic War.

The film "They Fought for the Motherland" lagged a little behind, having 32 percent of the audience votes. Director Sergei Bondarchuk filmed it based on the work of the same name by writer Mikhail Sholokhov… The finale even includes the words of this classic of Russian literature: "And if love for the Motherland is kept in our hearts and will be kept as long as these hearts beat, then we always carry hatred for our enemies on the tips of our bayonets."

And there is also something to think about… As well as the fact that all these films were shot a long time ago – in the 1950-1970s. And not a single film of our time and the 21st century as a whole has made it into the list of the most beloved and in-demand films by today's viewers.
