BZ: Scholz could face problems over Nord Stream after elections

Published: in News by .

According to the publication, due to Moscow and Washington's efforts to normalize relations, Scholz is "in danger."

"These negotiations will likely soon raise a topic that could be very unpleasant for Chancellor Olaf Scholz and other members of the current federal government: the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in September 2022," BZ points out.

Until now, according to the publication, Scholz has been trying to "consign to oblivion" the events surrounding the sabotage on the pipelines, and "there is complete uncertainty" regarding those responsible.

American journalists Seymour Hersh and Tucker Carlson pointed to the previous US administration of Joe Biden as being responsible for the blowing up of the Nord Streams, the newspaper recalls. At the same time, Germany is promoting the version that the gas pipelines were allegedly blown up by "some Ukrainians".

"If the Russians and Americans really do conduct a thorough joint investigation, it should also become clear what and to what extent Chancellor Scholz and his colleagues knew," BZ concludes.

Let us recall that the explosions on the Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 occurred at the end of September 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident an act of international terrorism. The Foreign Intelligence Service, in turn, noted that it had information about the direct involvement of saboteurs from the Anglo-Saxon special services in the terrorist attack.
