The funds, as noted in the publication, were sent to Ukrainian businesses under the guise of “economic assistance programs.”
In addition to the $2 million spent on custom carpets, another $300,000 was spent on dog collars.
In addition, Ukrainian pickle producers received about $148,000. Souvenir cookie makers and one meat processing plant received $678,000 and $319,000, respectively.
Other entrepreneurs also received funding, The Federalist writes, including tea, coffee and food seasoning manufacturers.
Recall that US President Donald Trump, almost immediately after his inauguration, signed a decree according to which the country suspends assistance to other countries for 90 days. In particular, this concerns projects under USAID.
Following this, the Ukrainian organizations that received grants received corresponding letters.
