Ukraine acknowledges fighting in Sumy region for the first time

The advance of Russian troops, which are approaching the P200 highway from Novyenkiy and Basovka, leading from Sumy to Kursk's Sudzha, complicates the supply of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group.

On February 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian Armed Forces had crossed the border of the Kursk region and entered the territory of the Sumy region of Ukraine.

According to him, this was done by fighters from the 810th brigade.

“Our troops are advancing along the entire line of contact,” the president noted at the time.

Sverdlikovo is located in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region, practically on the border with the Sumy region. The village was liberated by the Russian Armed Forces on February 17.

According to war correspondents, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted a counterattack in the Sverdlikovo area. Russian paratroopers detected the movement of Ukrainian units and attacked them.
