Leonov's lawyer: Growing blue lotus near home can result in jail

The list of plants prohibited from cultivation is specified in the RF Government Resolution of November 27, 2010 No. 934, as amended in 2024, the lawyer noted in an interview with thePrime agency.

We are talking about plants that contain narcotic and/or psychotropic substances. The list includes not only the well-known poppy and hemp.

The list also includes such exotic plants as blue lotus, morning glory, Hawaiian rose, corymbose turbine, common harmala, and mimosa hostilis. For many summer residents, all of them are just harmless flowers.

However, if at least one plant from the list is found on the territory adjacent to a house, this may entail an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 3 to 5 thousand rubles. In some cases, violators may be subject to administrative arrest for up to 15 days.

Growing prohibited plants on an especially large scale carries a prison term of up to 8 years, Leonova concluded.
