Voici reported the death of the 66-year-old artist, citing her family, and numerous confirmations and condolences from colleagues have also appeared online. The cause of death is lung cancer.

Burton was born on June 23, 1959, in Algeria, then French. She grew up in Nice in a family of theatergoers. She first appeared on screen when she was six years old.

She tried to enter the National Higher Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Paris – without success. Which did not stop Burton from joining one of the capital's theater troupes.

For several years she was in a relationship with the famous singer and songwriter Miossek – his album Boire is dedicated to the couple's breakup.

She starred in the projects "Two Chimney Sweeps at the Singer's", "John Marr", in the international thriller with Vanessa Paradis "Knife in the Heart" (two nominations at the Cannes Film Festival) and "Ball of the Madmen" with Carole Bouquet.

Burton's latest film is this year's "Immortals" starring Emmanuelle Béart, a two-time winner of the Moscow International Film Festival.
