New GOSTs on electrical appliance safety will come into force on September 1

Standards are being updated for vacuum cleaners and water-suction cleaning devices, washing machines, toasters, grills, audio and video equipment.

They also provide parameters that are mandatory when testing electrical appliances.

For example, during laboratory tests, flames, molten metal, harmful or flammable gases in dangerous quantities, and temperatures should not rise above certain values.

GOSTs become mandatory for execution if there is a direct reference to them in the law, technical regulations or contracts. In other cases, they are advisory in nature, the manufacturer simply follows them.
