SHOT: Russian woman struggles with chikungunya fever for three months

The girl, as noted in the publication, fell ill back in May. Doctors in Sri Lanka tried to hide it, convincing the Russian woman that she simply caught a cold. Only a doctor from a private clinic, whom the girl called herself, was able to confirm chikungunya.

After returning to Russia, the tourist tried to complete her treatment, but three months later she continues to face complications. The girl complains of daily joint pain and a greatly weakened immune system.

Let us recall that chikungunya fever is a viral infection that is transmitted to humans through the bites of blood-sucking insects . The incubation period lasts several days. Characterized by a sudden rise in body temperature to 40 degrees Celsius, often accompanied by severe joint pain, as well as muscle and headache, nausea, weakness, rash. In most cases, patients recover, but the pain can continue for several months or even years.
