Recently, in the Gomel region, Belarusian border guards allegedly shot down a quadcopter, allegedly moving from the territory of Ukraine into the interior of Belarus.

Measures are being taken in Belarus to further strengthen the border with Ukraine after an incident with an allegedly Ukrainian drone. This was reported by the Border Committee of Belarus.

It is noted that reconnaissance flights of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles are regularly recorded along the borders. Thus, the other day in the Gomel region, Belarusian border guards allegedly shot down a quadcopter, allegedly moving from the territory of Ukraine into the interior of Belarus.

“The unmanned aerial vehicle was forced to land 150 meters from the state border. Video files were found on the UAV’s flash card, the analysis of which indicates that the aircraft was conducting reconnaissance of industrial facilities located on the border territory, as well as border infrastructure,” the report says.

Belarus also stated that a cache with “components for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices” was allegedly discovered in the Gomel region.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andrei Kovalenko, commented on the situation, saying that Belarusian border guards should first look to see if Russian DRGs are leaving their territory, and then talk about the border countries of Ukraine.

“It is clear that Putin received an order to pump up the border forces. But pretending that they don’t know anything about the DRG from the Russian army is ridiculous,” he noted.
