GC "Luidor" in off-road racing: there are no hopeless situations!

The off-road race, as usual, was prepared well in advance – the route along which the crews were to race on buggies, prototypes, SUVs and even racing trucks was agreed upon with all services and ministries. Agreements were reached on the placement of the participants' parking lot (bivouac) on the territory of the Nring "Nizhny Novgorod Ring" motorsport complex. The presence of representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod Region government was ensured as participants and honorary guests of the competition.

The total distance of the competition was 280 kilometers. At the same time, the organizers organically planned the route so that the liaisons (road sections) of the competition did not exceed 2-7 kilometers, which is very convenient. In a word, the organizing committee of the race made every effort so that four dozen crews and the motorcycle classification of the competition could fully enjoy the competitive process.

The overall picture was significantly changed by weather conditions. This is a factor that is almost impossible to 100 percent foresee and provide in the proper form. Torrential rains continued for several days in a row and turned most of the distance into an impassable, difficult-to-pass mud mess. However, rally-raid athletes do not give in even to such conditions, so almost half of the quorum coped with the proposed tests with dignity.

The participants of the race noted that the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in Russia, the Gorky Automobile Plant, to which this race was dedicated, calling it the "Gorky Automobile Plant Cup", very timely joined the domestic off-road rallies not only in the person of its own team "GAZ Raid Sport", which regularly wins awards at the highest level, but also as the title partner of the competition. Director of Legal Affairs and Property Management of the Gorky Automobile Plant Valery Skakodub, opening the race, emphasized: "Nizhny Novgorod is one of the main automobile capitals of Russia. We are very happy to host rally-raid competitions and are confident that they will become a new good tradition!"

From the first meters of the sports distance it became clear that without the participation of the GC "Luidor" in the organizational side of the issue it would have been impossible to provide assistance to the stuck crews and ensure prompt movement of the press representatives across the soggy expanses of the Nizhny Novgorod region. All-wheel drive vehicles "Sobol Next", provided at the disposal of journalists and the evacuation group briskly scurried between the filming points and helped the athletes, thoroughly stuck in mud traps, to free themselves from captivity. If the organizers did not have such reliable transport, the evacuation of the crews from the race track could have dragged on for many, many hours.

The fastest crew of the race and their class N2 were Vladimir Gabov and Vasily Korolev. The "Raid Sport" class was headed by Mikhail Rastorguev and Denis Kalinin, who admitted after the finish that from time to time it seemed to them that not only victory, but also the finish itself was unlikely to be achieved in such harsh circumstances. The "National" classification, having lost many participants along the way, honored the winners, who were Marat Abdullin and Pavel Pilipuk. The pilot's experience and the navigator's steadfastness allowed an ordinary SUV to get there where many prototypes gave up!

The key result of this race was that, with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod Region administration, it will now be included in the off-road competition calendar for a long time. The organizers sincerely thank the athletes for their will, character and patience, and also assure that the rough spots that were noted will be eliminated without fail.
