What surprised the "RG" correspondent about "Far East Street"

We can't pull it out!
Gold fever is sweeping across the Magadan Region. Of course – here you can try to pan for gold yourself. The old-fashioned way – with a basin, as they used to pan for gold a century ago. True, in order not to tempt guests, the precious metal buried in the sand was securely covered with glass. You stick your hands into gloves, take a basin, scoop up the liquid and get rid of the wet sand with circular movements. The activity would be quite boring, if it weren't for the prospect of seeing the glitter of gold in the unpleasantly colored mush. A small piece sparkled and disappeared again – out of joy, she splashed the basin too hard and lost the gold.
– This is a traditional method of panning, this is how gold was mined in the old days. Many who try it admit that their hands quickly get tired of holding a basin of sand in the air. But people have an idea of how hard the work is, – explains Maxim, a representative of the regional tourist information center.

By the way, in Kolyma, those who chose gold mining as their profession were called zolotishniki. And in my native Khabarovsk Krai – zolotushniki. It seems to be the same letter, but the sound is completely different.
Another attraction with gold is for strongmen. You have to pull a bar about the size of a brick out of a display case. Sounds simple, but in reality it is not easy at all. You have to do it through a small opening. Add to this the weight of the jewel of more than ten kilograms, and you will understand that this fun is not for everyone.
“The main thing is to tear it off the surface with one hand, and then it will go easier,” advises Maxim.
I try, I pull, but nothing. I change my hand, take off the rings so they don't get in the way – a bad journalist is one who can't pull out a gold bar! Not the first time, but it worked! The heavy brick instantly pulls your hands to the floor, it's impossible to hold it for long, but how nice!
The future is already coming. And it's stomping.
“Follow me, and we will show you the Amur region,” cyber-Gosha commands the people in a bright red hat.
Stomping loudly, he leads the admiring public to the Amurka pavilion and marches in place – he has not yet learned to open the door on his own. Gosha is only six months old, in such a short life the humanoid has mastered 15 basic movements. His vocabulary is 19 phrases, but he is easy to teach. Gosha's life is a clear demonstration of cooperation between two neighboring countries: created in China, adapted in Russia.
– This is a humanoid robot designed for events. It has been taught to speak and move according to the scenario. In the future, such robots will become indispensable and familiar assistants for people: to clean the house, carry bags from the store, even attend a conference for you if you do not have time yourself. We tell in the pavilion how we are building the future today, – says Alexey Markin, a representative of the regional delegation.
The short cyber-Gosha gathers dozens of enthusiastic spectators, shakes hands, asks how things are, and sends air kisses. Suddenly the "leather" owner pushes him in the chest, Gosha stumbles, but holds on, demonstrating his agility.
“You see, he behaves like a normal humanoid,” Markin smiles.
“A normal humanoid can strike back,” the audience doubts.
“No, the first rule of robots is that you cannot harm a person,” Markin objects.

Well, well, we've seen in films how quickly they forget about these rules! In total, three more of Gosha's brothers were spotted at the VEF. One of them demonstrated a miracle invention – glasses with a built-in computer and camera. They are a bit more massive than usual, but not heavy. In addition, they come with a small remote control. You put them on and see a monitor on the glasses. The equipment is very easy to use – we tested it ourselves. You can choose a TV series: for example, no one except you will know what you are watching – a great thing for long meetings! The main thing is not to turn up the sound loudly and nod occasionally, as if you agree with the speaker. The cost of such glasses starts from 80 thousand rubles and depends on the filling.
I feel sorry for the bird!
In the "House of Falcons" they allowed me to hold a saker falcon on my hand. Falcons of various species spend most of their time in a klobuk – a thick mask that covers their eyes. This way the birds do not see the endless stream of visitors that could disturb them. From time to time, they are sprayed with cold water on their paws to keep them cool and avoid heat stroke.
Five-month-old saker falcon Runa is a debutante at the forum.
– It was customary to use only females in hunting, so all our birds are girls. Females are usually larger, and the larger the bird, the larger the catch it can bring, – explains nursery employee Anastasia Lisina.
The girl helps to put on a special glove and warns: you can't lower your hand, so that Runa doesn't roll down onto unprotected skin and grab onto it with her claws. And the young bird has impressive claws – she can easily crush a hare.
“Just don’t be afraid, the birds can sense it,” Anastasia sternly advises.
Of course, I immediately became scared. Runa turned her hooded head towards me and started sniffing. It's a very unpleasant feeling when a predator with such a sharp beak is at arm's length from you! I thank you for the opportunity and return the bird to the specialist.
Little Brown King Kong
On the very first day of the VEF, the Internet exploded with news – chess sets were being sold on the forum for a million! The price was sky-high, but it was good that people rushed to see this wonder – such goods don't linger at the VEF.
The most expensive souvenir in the decoration tent of the Republic of Buryatia is a model of Stalin's car made of jade.
– This is a car that existed in only one copy. Stalin managed to approve it, but production was never launched – the war began. The model is a complete copy of it, right down to the small details made of silver. Our craftsmen do everything by hand, it is very delicate work, that is why it is expensive, – the sales consultant shows.
Stalin's typewriter for 1 million 407 thousand was bought the same evening as it was put on display. The jade King Kong for 900 thousand, the chess set for a million and the fish for 874 thousand lasted a little longer.
Why is King Kong called "braenkiy", you ask? I really liked the word – I picked it up in the Zabaikalsky pavilion, where they sold products with local slang. And if some of the words were understandable, because they are also used in our region – "carbonic acid", "cho kavo", then with "braenkiy" I had to rack my brains.
– Transbaikalians buy it willingly, but visitors don't understand what we're talking about. They ask what "braenkiy" means and buy it when they're sure it's a decent word. It means "good", "beautiful", "pleasant", – explains consultant Maria.
