Russians have begun receiving tax notifications for 2024.

"Over the next month, we plan to send 66.5 million such notifications. Of these, approximately 45 million will be sent electronically through the taxpayer's personal account and the personal account on the unified portal for state and municipal services for those connected to these services. The remaining taxpayers will receive them by registered mail," the Federal Tax Service reported.
The total amount of property taxes assessed across all notifications amounted to 410 billion rubles. Taxes must be paid no later than December 1, 2025, to avoid penalties.
From January 1, 2025, a five-stage progressive personal income tax scale came into effect in Russia.
Since 2025, a five-tier progressive personal income tax scale has been in effect in Russia. Instead of the 13% and 15% rates, five tax levels have been established: 13%, 15%, 18%, 20%, and 22%, respectively, depending on income level. However, for bank deposits, the personal income tax rate can only be 13% or 15%, depending on the amount of interest income earned during the year. Not the entire income amount is taxed, but only that amount in excess of the tax-exempt amount. This is calculated using the formula: 1 million rubles multiplied by the maximum key rate of the Central Bank in effect on the first of each month in the calendar year.
In 2024, the maximum Central Bank rate was 21%, meaning the tax-exempt minimum for 2024 reached 210,000 rubles. Only aggregate interest income earned above this amount is taxable. For example, the total income on deposits for 2024 was 250,000 rubles. This is 40,000 rubles more than the tax-exempt amount. Tax will only be payable on 40,000 rubles.
Transport tax is levied on owners of cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles, including motorboats, yachts, snowmobiles, airplanes, and helicopters. The tax amount depends on the type of vehicle, and rates are set by regional laws. Property tax is levied on apartments, rooms, residential buildings, garages, parking spaces, and unfinished construction projects, depending on the cadastral value of the property.
