Man who detonated grenade in Troyeshchyna detained in Kyiv

Law enforcement officers detained a violator in one of the residential areas of the Desnyansky district of the capital, who detonated a hand grenade at about 1 a.m. on June 29.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kiev.

The explosion damaged 11 cars, but no one was hurt.

Law enforcement officers have identified the person involved in the commission of the criminal offense. He is a Kiev resident born in 1973. The police, with the forceful support of the Kord special forces, detained him at his place of residence.

During a search of the man's apartment, police seized five grenades and about 40 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.

A criminal case was opened on this fact under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism committed with the use of weapons). For committing such a criminal offense, imprisonment for up to seven years is provided.

The issue of informing the detainee of the suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
