"Tanker ships are changing course in the Atlantic and heading to Europe as cargo owners look to capitalize on a market hit by the loss of Russian pipeline gas flows through Ukraine," RIA Novosti writes, citing the publication.
According to the publication, seven tankers departing from the United States have already deviated from their routes in January of this year. Initially, six ships were heading to the Cape of Good Hope and Asia, and one tanker was heading to Colombia.
However, now they are all moving towards European ports, the author of the article emphasized.
LNG market analyst Alex Frawley said such abrupt changes in vessel traffic were "very unusual".
The publication adds that the EU gas market is currently undergoing changes amid cold weather and the cessation of gas transit from Russia through Ukraine.
