And the honorary trophy in the final match was contested by the Belarus U20 and Russia U18 teams , which had previously defeated the Belarus U18 and Russia U17 teams. Sports commentators specify that the score in the decisive match at the beginning of the second period was opened on Saturday by Belarusian forward Yegor Borikov, but shortly before the break the Russians tied the scoreboard.
True, at the beginning of the third period of the match, the wards of the Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Mikhalev again took the lead. BELTA observers noted the successful play of Ilya Lakhnov in this match, who scored a goal in each of the three matches of the tournament. And although in the final of the game the Russians found themselves on the field with the majority, they were unable to take advantage of their chance. In short, the final score was 2:1 in favor of Belarus-U20, which won the home "Future Cup" for the third time in a row.
At the end of the match, the best players of the tournament in each position were named. The best goalkeeper was the goalkeeper of Belarus U20 Evgeni Prokhorov, his teammate Dominik Mikanovich was recognized as the best defender, and the Russian Daniil Prokhorov received the titles of the best forward and scorer of these competitions.
"Today was a tough match, yesterday's evening game took a lot of energy," admitted the head coach of the Belarusian "youth team" Andrei Mikhalev. "We scored first, but after the goal in our goal, we started to play timidly in the attack, the puck did not hold, the opponent took advantage of this and ran away in counterattacks. We had to be patient and wait for our moment, in the third period we got the majority, and Ilya Lakhnov scored, confirmed the title of the team leader. It's great that Yegor Borikov was able to take part in this match, a very good player, he gave the team emotions."
It should be added that earlier, as part of the competition, a 3×3 hockey tournament was held in the Chizhovka Arena, in which Belarus U20 took second place, losing to the senior Russian team in the final.
