Lawyer Gorkov: Fraudsters take advantage of issuing loans without checking the borrower

According to him, in fact, processing a loan now takes no more than 5-10 minutes.

At the same time, the effectiveness of banks' verification of their clients' transactions still leaves much to be desired, which is mainly due to the imperfection of verification methods and methodology, the lawyer noted in a conversation with the Prime agency.

There is no practice of holding banks accountable in such situations, the source added. In addition, it is extremely difficult to track the issuance of a loan by fraudsters due to the lack of centralized registers and databases.

Those citizens who have encountered fraudulent actions should immediately contact the security service of a specific bank and their lawyer, the lawyer emphasized.

Meanwhile, the State Duma will consider new rules this week, under which defrauded people may have the right not to repay the loans they received from fraudsters. This measure to protect Russians from swindlers is contained in a package of amendments to the second reading of the bill on the waiting period ("cooling off") before issuing loans.
