Foreign researchers have found that eating natural yogurt without any extra additives for breakfast helps reduce the risk of developing bowel cancer.
As reported by the Sun, citing scientists, even one serving of yogurt per week reduces the risk of developing a dangerous disease. The effectiveness of the product was even higher with regular consumption of yogurt twice a week over a long period of time.
Experts noted that the positive effect of the product on the intestines is associated with changes in the microbiome and bifidobacteria, which have an anti-inflammatory effect.
The risk of cancer is reduced "by maintaining a balanced gut microbiome, which can help eliminate harmful microbes," the experts said.
It is reported that approximately 150 thousand people took part in the researchers' work.
Earlier, endocrinologist and candidate of medical sciences Oksana Mikhaleva noted that sugar, preservatives, dyes, stabilizers, and emulsifiers can be added to store-bought yogurt. Such additives do not make the product healthy. Whereas natural yogurt contains only milk and lactic acid bacteria. It can be used in healthy eating, given to children, but such a product can be stored for three to five days.
