The Dagestan Freestyle Wrestling Federation has named the cause of Buvaisar Saitiev's death

According to him, the former athlete had lung problems.

"As a result, the cause of death was cardiac arrest. He took medications that caused complications," Magomedov explained.

He added that Saitiev’s entire family was with him in the Moscow hospital.

The death of Buvaisar Saitiev was announced this evening by the President of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili.

The former athlete was 49 years old. He became Olympic champion three times – in 1996, 2004 and 2008 – in the weight category up to 74 kilograms. He won the world and European championships six times.

According to the Telegram channel Baza, Saitiev felt unwell in the courtyard of his house, the concierge called an ambulance, after which he was hospitalized .
