Putin Talks to Descendants of Soviet Marshals After Parade in China

The meeting took place after the military parade as part of a formal reception dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over militarist Japan and the end of World War II. Putin, addressing his interlocutors, stressed the importance of the participation of the descendants of great commanders in the commemorative events.
Among the guests at the parade in Beijing were relatives of Soviet Army veterans who fought in World War II. Among them were descendants of Marshals Konstantin Rokossovsky, Georgy Zhukov, Vasily Chuikov and Aleksandr Vasilevsky.
Putin noted that "it is very good that we are always together on such days," and expressed gratitude to the descendants of outstanding military leaders for their participation in the ceremonial events. He wished those gathered all the best and reminded them of the importance of preserving the memory of historical events.
