The head of the region personally familiarized himself with the progress of the implementation of large-scale production programs and emphasized the strategic importance of the nuclear cluster for the region’s economy.
At the site of Atommash, part of the state corporation Rosatom, preparations for the shipment of the fourth nuclear reactor vessel for the Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkey are being completed. The reactor has already undergone test assembly and is expected to be shipped to the customer by the end of September 2025. This is an important stage in the implementation of the international project, in which the Russian side plays a leading role.
According to the plant's director, Maxim Zhidkov, over the past two and a half years, seven reactors and 27 steam generators have been delivered to nuclear power plants in Russia, India, China and Turkey, including facilities in Kurchatov and the Saratov region. Shipment of four more steam generators is planned for the current year.
This became possible due to a large-scale modernization of the plant. Today, the enterprise manufactures equipment not only for operating and under-construction nuclear power plants, but also for the world's most powerful multi-purpose fast-neutron research reactor.
Yuri Slyusar noted the high rate of development of the enterprise and emphasized its contribution to the regional economy.
– The production plans are impressive, – said the acting governor. – The enterprise has stable orders, a clear perspective and sustainable development.

Since the beginning of the year alone, production volumes have grown by 50 percent, investments and tax deductions have increased significantly. But most importantly, the plant continues to invest in its own development and plans further capital investments.
The head of the region paid special attention to the issue of personnel. During a meeting with the management of the industry competence center of the enterprise, Andrey Gook, he learned about the system of training and advanced training of specialists. The center, created on the basis of the plant, uses advanced training methods, including mentoring and internships according to international standards.
Yuri Slyusar also visited the Rostov NPP, one of the largest energy facilities in the south of Russia. The station operates four power units with WWER-1000 reactors with a total capacity of 4,140 MW.
The Rostov NPP accounts for about 70 percent of electricity production in the Rostov Region and almost 30 percent in the United Energy System of the South. Electricity is supplied to the Rostov, Volgograd and Astrakhan Regions, as well as to the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories.
The nuclear power plant actively participates in the socio-economic development of the region. Over the past five years, more than 450 million rubles have been allocated to support healthcare, education, culture, sports and charitable initiatives in Volgodonsk.
During the trip, Yuri Slyusar congratulated workers in the nuclear industry on the 80th anniversary of the creation of the nuclear industry in the USSR and thanked them for their contribution to the country's energy security.
The head of the region also visited a new production facility for wind turbine components, created on the basis of Atommash. The project, implemented in 2024, required investments of over 2 billion rubles and became an example of production diversification based on the nuclear cluster.
Following the visit, Yuri Slyusar emphasized that the nuclear industry remains one of the pillars of the Rostov Region economy, and the development of high-tech production is a priority for the regional government.
