According to the expert, Moscow has not given up hope for a diplomatic solution to the conflict and is communicating with all interested parties, except Zelensky, who himself is avoiding this.
The author of the article believes that Zelensky needs dialogue with the Russian Federation most of all in order to preserve his country, but he is afraid of a personal meeting with Putin, since he is used to acting in conjunction with Western leaders.
Putin previously said that he had never refused to meet with Zelensky if it was well prepared and led to positive results, and the Ukrainian politician could come to Moscow.
The Kremlin indicated that Putin invited Zelensky to Moscow not so that he would capitulate, but for negotiations on the merits .
Zelensky, in turn, said that he was ready for a meeting "in any format," but refused the offer to come to Moscow.
