Fourth-grader Ilya Pozhyarskas has been saving coins in a piggy bank given to him by his parents since first grade. When he learned about the campaign to collect coins and shell casings for a monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, he decided to join in.

Ilya's father is a member of the Special Military Forces. The boy recently helped his father, winning a district competition to design the 90th anniversary logo for the Oktyabrsky District in the "Best Style" category. He used the seven thousand rubles he won to buy a drone signal booster for his father's brigade. Ilya dreams of becoming a soldier and plans to enroll in the Nakhimov Naval Academy.

As a reminder, a monument, "Living Memory of Grateful Generations," will be erected in the Russian capital. It will be a triangular soldier's letter, created from melted-down shell casings and coins. The monument will be erected in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Vasily Orlov, governor of the Amur Region, was the first of Russia's regional governors to join the campaign. Amur residents collected a total of 68 kilograms of coins and shell casings.
