TWZ: Boeing has begun production of the sixth-generation F-47 fighter jet for the US Air Force.

"The goal is now for the first flight to be carried out in 2028," the publication states.

TWZ notes that all details of the project are classified. It is only known that the fighter will be capable of speeds in excess of Mach 2 (over 2,300 kilometers per hour) and will be equipped with the latest stealth technologies. The new aircraft will have a combat radius of over 1,000 nautical miles (almost 1,990 kilometers).

The US Air Force plans to purchase at least 185 F-47 fighters. The cost of each fighter could exceed $300 million.
