In Ukraine, loggers are required to photograph timber

In order to combat the “gray” timber market, the Cabinet of Ministers has introduced mandatory photo recording for all forest users.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reported this.

As stated by the head of the department, Ruslan Strelets, now the electronic timber accounting system will generate a consignment note only after uploading a photo of a timber truck with timber.

The timber loaded onto the timber trucks is photographed from four angles, after which the photographs are loaded into the EOD system. The pattern of the stacked timber is unique and cannot be duplicated, so the invoice cannot be used a second time, the ministry said.

In addition, information about the consignment note is open, which will allow everyone to check the authenticity of documents for timber on the LIAC website.

Six months ago, this service began to be tested in the branches of the state enterprise “Forests of Ukraine”, and now it has been extended to all forest users.
